HC Deb 04 May 1959 vol 605 cc13-4W
80. Mr. Awbery

asked the Paymaster-General if, in view of the dangers arising out of the storage of nuclear fuel elements, he will introduce legislation making it an obligation on all persons who store them to notify the medical officer of health of the locality concerned, so that preparations can be made for dealing with them in an effective way in the event of an accident or fire at the storage place.

Sir I. Horobin

No. Installations for the storage of nuclear fuel will if necessary be brought by regulation under the safety controls contemplated in the Nuclear Installations (Licensing and Insurance) Bill now under consideration upstairs.
