§ Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the present composition of the Executive Council of Mauritius; and what changes he proposes in view of the results of the election of 9th March.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydOf the nine unofficial Ministers in the outgoing Executive Council seven had departmental portfolios and two were without portfolio. Six were elected members of the Legislative Council, five of whom belonged to the Mauritius Labour Party; the other three were nominated members of the Legislative Council.
The Governor at present has in hand the appointment of unofficial Ministers to the new Executive Council. I cannot yet say how the Council will differ from the outgoing one as a result of the recent elections.
