asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action is being taken by the United Nations in the matter of Egyptian interference with vessels carrying cargoes to and from Israel through the Suez Canal.

As my hon. Friend informed the right hon. and learned Member for Rowley Regis and Tipton (Mr. A. Henderson) on 23rd March, the permanent representative of Israel has addressed to the President of the Security Council a letter of protest about recent Egyptian interference with two vessels carrying cargo from Israel. This is being circulated to all members of the United Nations. The letter reserves the Israel Government's right to take further action.
