HC Deb 25 March 1959 vol 602 c124W
65. Mr. Snow

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he is taking to mitigate the cumulative effect upon Anglo-Dutch relations of the recent decisions of Her Majesty's Government in respect of the restriction of flights to Singapore by the Royal Dutch Airline, the imposition of an increased tariff on imports of cut flowers into this country, and the retention of the quota on Dutch bulbs.

Mr. R. Allan

These decisions were taken on commercial grounds. Her Majesty's Government trust that they will not mar the very cordial relations which this country has had with the Netherlands for so long.

The hon. Member will know that Mr. Luns, the Netherlands Foreign Minister, paid a visit to this country at the end of January. We were then able to discuss amicably the whole question of relations between our two countries, and we decided to have further conversations whenever they would be useful.
