§ Mr. Lagdenasked the Paymaster-General if he is yet in a position to make a statement about the findings of the committee on co-operation between area and Scottish electricity and gas boards.
§ Sir I. HorobinThe report of the Committee is being published today. The main conclusion, after a careful investigation of the possibility that increased cooperation between the two industries in the performance of their statutory functions might improve the service which they give to the public, is that there is no case for major changes in existing arrangements. The Committee, however, makes some useful recommendations designed to improve the services provided by these boards, which my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my noble Friend are commending to the attention of the electricity and gas authorities. My right hon. Friend and my noble Friend are most grateful to Sir Cecil Weir and to the other Members of the Committee for their valuable Report.
