HC Deb 24 March 1959 vol 602 c105W
60. Mr. Corfield

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether his attention has been directed to descriptions by a member of the Lands Tribunal of sharp practice on the part of the Bristol Corporation in the exercise of their compulsory powers under the Housing Act, 1957; and whether he will initiate an inquiry so as to ensure fair compensation for the persons who have been deprived of their houses for £1 apiece, in many cases after having already been forced to meet the cost of demolition.

Mr. H. Brooke

I have seen Press reports of a recent Bristol case before the Lands Tribunal. There is no official transcript of the proceedings, but I will study the decision when it is available.
