HC Deb 19 March 1959 vol 602 cc59-60W
53. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the anxiety of headmasters and headmistresses of secondary schools in Sierra Leone over the poor standards of the primary schools; and what steps the Government of Sierra Leone are taking to increase the numbers of teachers and improve their quality in the primary schools.

Mr. J. Amery

I would refer the hon. Member to the Answer given to him on 29th January. The Sierra Leone White Paper on Educational Development outlines the Government's proposals for the expansion of primary education and of teacher training facilities, and for the improvement of the quality of teachers.
