I would refer my hon. Friend to the Answer given on 13th March by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade. The value of total exports of wood from the United King- 50W dom in the years 1954–58 was £3.1 million.

The total value (c.i.f.) of hardwood and softwood imported into the United Kingdom between 1954 and 1958 was £139.6 million and £673.8 million respectively.
