HC Deb 11 March 1959 vol 601 c110W
21. Sir J. Duncan

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will include in the specifications for articles used by his Department which are made of flax, such as mail bags, a condition that they should be made of Scottish spun flax.

Mr. Marples

No. The Post Office could not discriminate in favour of Scottish spun flax, to the detriment of the flax spinning industry in other parts of the United Kingdom.
