HC Deb 10 March 1959 vol 601 c104W
84. Sir A. Hurd

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what guidance he gives to local housing authorities which have made representations to him about excessive rents charged far caravans on sites licensed by them; and to what extent the Furnished Houses (Rent Control) Act, 1946, has been applied to caravan lettings.

Mr. H. Brooke

The action open to the local authority will depend on the terms of the letting. I am advised that if a caravan is let furnished for use as a dwelling where it stands, the local authority has power to refer the contract to the local rent tribunal. I regret that information about the number of cases of this kind referred to rent tribunals is not available.
