77. Mr. Pentland

asked the Minister of Labour how many disabled ex-Service men and disabled ex-industrial workers were registered as unemployed at the employment exchanges in Durham County at any convenient day in January last; how many were considered to be unable to follow their usual occupation, but are

concentrating its production in its Willesden factory; and what action has been taken by his Department to find alternative work for the 130 workers who are now being made redundant.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Yes. Of 100 workers whose notice of discharge expired on 13th February, 59 availed themselves of an opportunity to register with my Department before their discharges became effective. My local officers are doing all they can to find suitable employment for these people and others who may have since registered.
