HC Deb 02 March 1959 vol 601 cc2-3W
18. Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Minister of Health what representations he has had from the medical profession regarding the advertising and unrestricted sale of tranquillisers to the public; whether he has yet received a report from the inter-departmental committee on drug addiction which is considering this matter; and if he will make a further statement.

Mr. Walker-Smith

Some individual doctors have made representations, and articles and letters have appeared in the medical Press. The inter-departmental committee is not yet ready to advise on this matter and in the circumstances I can say no more for the moment.
