HC Deb 02 March 1959 vol 601 cc13-4W
80. Mr. Sumner

asked the Secretary of State for Air what warnings have been issued to civil flying organisations stating that a fence may be built across Biggin Hill Airfield, and the reasons therefor; and what consideration has been given to using part of the airfield as a base for guided missiles.

Mr. Ward

The flying clubs who are leasing part of this airfield have been told that a fence may have to be put up to mark off the leased area from the rest of the airfield. I cannot comment on what consideration may have been given to the use of Biggin Hill or any other airfield for guided missiles.
