§ 8. Mr. M. Lindsayasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will instruct the United Kingdom representative on the World Bank to urge that no loan should be granted to Egypt to widen the Suez Canal while she is defaulting upon her undertaking to allow the passage of ships of all nations.
Mr. AmoryThis matter is still under consideration by the staff of the Bank,106W and no proposal for a loan has yet been presented to the Executive Board. In the event of such a proposal being made, the attitude of Her Majesty's Government will be settled in the light of all the relevant factors prevailing at the time.
