HC Deb 23 June 1959 vol 607 c127W
95. Mr. N. McLean

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps are being taken this summer to improve the condition of the roads on the mainland and in Skye approaching the recently-opened Glenelg-Kylerhea ferry; and whether he is satisfied that the signposting for this ferry on these roads is adequate.

Mr. Maclay

I understand that Inverness County Council is at present repairing both approach roads to this ferry at an estimated cost of £16,000 on which a grant of 50 per cent. will be payable.

I am in touch with Ross and Cromarty County Council about a suggestion that the existing road signs should be supplemented by an additional sign at Shiel Bridge giving particulars of the ferry.
