§ Mr. Ness Edwardsasked the Paymaster-General what would be the annual effect on the coal consumption of the Wales Gas Board of the proposal to take 15 million cubic feet of methane gas per day from 24 Welsh pits.
§ Sir I. HorobinThe arrangements between the Wales Gas Board and the56W National Coal Board for the use of additional quantities of methane from collieries in South Wales are not yet complete, but it is not expected that they would have a very significant effect on the Gas Board's use of coal. A large part of the methane would be used to meet new loads which cannot be served competitively by manufactured gas.
