HC Deb 05 June 1959 vol 606 c55W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is satisfied that there are adequate arrangements for the preservation of law and order and, in particular, the safety of life and property in Cyprus, pending the transfer of power to the Cypriot Republic.

Mr. J. Amery

The Governor retains full responsibility for the maintenance of law and order in the island and I am confident of his ability with the forces at his disposal to discharge this responsibility.
