§ Mr. J. AmeryExact figures are not available, but the Governor calculated that about 34,000 Africans, nearly all from Kiambu, are employed for wages on European and African farms in the Kiambu area. At least 25,000 more are employed on other work in Kiambu and34W Nairobi; and agricultural development, new building, quarrying and factory projects are creating new opportunities for employment.

§ Mr. J. Amery£67,000 is at present available for loans to African farmers and co-operatives in Kiambu, of which £62,000 has already been issued. £32,000 of this comes from the Emergency Fund and is used for resettlement and rehabilitation.
