Mr. T. Williams

asked the Minister of Education if he is aware of the shortage of teachers in the Don Valley Divisional Executive area, that at two secondary schools in the area there are likely to be 24 unfilled vacancies out of the complete staff of 37 in September, and that there is such a shortage of teachers at other schools in the area that switching from one school to another is out of the question; and what his Department is doing to help this education division to staff their schools.

September. I can best help the authority to solve its local problems by the steps I have taken to increase the national supply of teachers and to ensure through the distribution scheme that each authority has a proper opportunity to attract a fair share of the growing number of teachers available.
