HC Deb 02 June 1959 vol 606 c4W
52. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs, in view of the fact that Commander Fryer's official report on float tests in connection with the disposal of Tyne sewage by a trunk sewer to Ceuta Point shows the danger of it being subsequently deposited on the beaches, what alternative methods of sewage disposal are under consideration.

Mr. Bevins

In the first place it is for the local authorities on Tyneside to put proposals to my right hon. Friend. The problems there are still under examination by a technical committee of the Tyneside authorities and, as I said in my reply on 24th March last, my right hon. Friend must await this Committee's findings before he can consider this matter further.
