§ 57. Mr. Stonehouseasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why Josiah Mwangi Kariuki was arrested on 20th February, 1959; what charges are being brought against him; and where he is detained in Kenya.
§ Mr. J. AmeryJosiah Mwangi Kariuki, who had previously been detained under the Emergency Regulations, was released on 9th December, 1958.
The Governor subsequently decided, that for the purpose of maintaining public order his return to detention was necessary, and he was arrested and detained on 20th February.
No charges are being brought against Kariuki, who is at present held at Kandongu Detention Camp.
