§ Mr. Watkinsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs upon what date the New Radnor Rural District Council approached his Department about the provision of a water supply scheme for Walton and Old Radnor; what have been the causes of delays in connection with the scheme; and when the villagers can expect a supply of pure water.
§ Mr. H. BrookeThe New Radnor Rural District Council first put forward a tentative scheme for supplying piped water to Walton and Old Radnor in February, 1953, but danger of pollution made it necessary to consider various alternative schemes. A public inquiry was held on 5th March, 1958, and the relevant order under the Water Act, 1945, was made on 23rd July, 1958. Since then I have been awaiting detailed plans from the council. Until these are received it is impossible to estimate when a supply will be available, but I am expecting them shortly.
