§ 78. Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Works how many brickworks have been closed down in the south-west region during the past five years; what was the cause; and what steps are being taken to reopen them so that the shortage of bricks can be met without resorting to importation.
24W
§ Mr. H. NichollsSince 1st January, 1954, twenty brickworks have closed down in the south-west region, largely through the then lack of demand for their output. Brickmakers are increasing production to meet high demands but stocks are better in some areas than in others.
