Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will restore the arrangements existing prior to the issue of Circular R.P.A. 50, of 23rd August, 1952, for the notification of deaths by the General Register Office; and if he will allow local registrars to provide information about deaths to the agents of the political parties.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe arrangements under which electoral registration officers could, on request, obtain notifications of deaths from the General Register Office were discontinued because it was found that little use was made of them; and I have no evidence to suggest that there is a case for restoring them. The provision of information by local registrars is a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend, the Minister of Health.
