HC Deb 26 January 1959 vol 598 c78W
Mr. Collick

asked the Minister of Labour what proposals for providing employment for unemployed workers on Merseyside are to be put into operation arising from the recent visit of his Parliamentary Secretary to the district.

Sir D. Eccles

I have been asked to reply.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade recently visited Merseyside and explained to the many people with whom he conferred that the Board of Trade is doing all it can to persuade firms to set up in Merseyside and the area is one of those in which financial assistance is available under the Distribution of Industry (Industrial Finance) Act both for firms wishing to move into the area and for firms already located there which may wish to expand.
