HC Deb 21 January 1959 vol 598 c35W
79. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for War what progress has been made in disposing of the 96,000 acres of land, the proposed disposal of which was announced on 11th March, 1957, and in disposing of the 50,000 acres, the disposal of which was announced on 6th March, 1958; and whether he is in a position to make a statement.

Mr. Soames

Of this combined programme about 53,000 acres have so far been released. Our rate of progress is governed by the rundown of the Army, the clearance of unexploded missiles and the legal and other processes of land disposal.
