§ Mr. Rankinasked the Postmaster-General if he will give a direction under Section 9 (2) of the Television Act, 1954, requiring the Authority to refrain from broadcasting in programmes of fictional drama passages purporting to be news announcements, in order to avoid panic among the lieges.
§ Mr. K. ThompsonThe Authority is very much aware of the dangers of simulated news announcements of the kind made on 20th February and has already made arrangements with the programme companies that they shall not be used in future.
