HC Deb 26 February 1959 vol 600 c182W
Mr. Grimond

asked the President of the Board of Trade what efforts are being made to increase the continental markets for herring.

Sir D. Eccles

The Herring Industry Board is continuing to make every effort to increase exports of herring to all continental markets. Restrictions on imports of herring have been lifted in most Western European countries and, as regards Eastern Europe, everything possible is being done, by negotiating quotas and other special arrangements, to promote this trade.
