Mr. Harold Davies

asked the Minister of Labour the numbers of unemployed in the urban districts of Biddulph and Cheadle, Staffordshire, at the latest date for which figures are available, and the comparable figures for the corresponding date 12 months ago.

The available statistics relate to employment exchange areas. At 9th February, 1959, there were 181 persons registered as unemployed at the Biddulph Employment Exchange and Youth Employment Office, and 124 at the Cheadle Employment Exchange and Youth Employment Office, compared with 98 and 113 respectively at 17th February, 1958.
