§ Sir A. Bossomasked the Minister of Education if he is aware that in schools where there are periodic exhibitions of reproductions of famous pictures, there is no explanation why they are recognised as works of great art value by reason of design, composition, colour, and so forth, attached to each reproduction, and pupils have no means of learning why they are considered good pictures; and if he will therefore reconsider his refusal to take further action.
§ Sir E. BoyleMy right hon. Friend has no specific information about the general practice in this matter, but considers that it is best left to the teachers in the schools to decide how to inculcate in their pupils an appreciation of the aesthetic merits of works of art.
