§ 106. Dame Irene Wardasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will make a statement on the talks he had on 19th February with the representatives of the Tyne Tunnel Joint Committee; and whether a starting date has now been agreed.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI am glad to say that I reached agreement with the deputation on the broad principles of financing the Tyne Tunnel project. These will now be reported to the Northumberland and Durham County Councils and to the Tyne Tunnel Joint Committee. Some points of detail remain to be settled before a starting date can be fixed.
