Mr. Edward Evansasked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of the rising incidence of unemployment in Lowestoft, he will now add this town to those areas included within the provisions of the Distribution of Industry Act, 1958, so as to encourage the development of new industries there.
§ Mr. J. RodgersAlthough the number of those at present unemployed in Lowestoft is high, the rate is very little above what it was at this time last year and I hope that the numbers will come down to a low level again this summer, as they did last summer. At present, therefore, I do not think we can add Lowestoft to this list.
