asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when it is proposed to implement the recommendation in the Waverley Report that the cost of maintenance of sea defences should rank for grant.

Mr. Godber

After full consideration, the Government decided that it could not accept the Waverley Committee's recommendation that the cost of maintenance of sea defences should be assisted from Exchequer funds.
