HC Deb 19 February 1959 vol 600 c96W
Mr. Woollam

asked the Secretary of State for War when the Army Pension Special Identification Form was first introduced; how many cases of attempted fraud have been discovered as a result of it, and with what savings of public funds; and what is the annual cost of administering the scheme.

Mr. Soames

The form was introduced in 1922 on the recommendation of the Public Accounts Committee following cases of fraud by impersonation. There is no record of the savings brought about by this safeguard, nor of its cost since it is an integral part of the administration of Army pensions.
