asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what arrangements he has in view for the future of the Tropical Products Institute.

To give the Tropical Products Institute wider scope in serving Commonwealth countries my colleagues and I have agreed that it should be transferred with effect from 1st April next from my responsibility to that of my right hon. colleague the Lord President of the Council. It will become part of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. On the 1st April, the Colonial Products Council will be dissolved and a new D.S.I.R. Committee will be appointed to look after the Institute under the new arrangements.
