§ Mr. H. BrookeDetails are given in the Appendix to the Housing Return which is presented to Parliament for every local authority in England and Wales covering progress made with slum clearance, the number of houses built, under construction and in approved tenders. Approvals do not necessarily distinguish between houses to replace slums and houses for 73W other purposes, but the hon. Member would doubtless be able to obtain this information by inquiry from the local authority. Nor is information available about the numbers on local authority waiting lists, since the selection of tenants for their houses and consequently the keeping of a waiting list are entirely a matter for the local authority concerned. As regards current programmes, I understand that Morpeth Rural District Council hope to put upwards of 200 houses into tender this year, and Ashington Urban District Council upwards of 40. I am in communication with Newbiggin Urban District Council. As far as I am aware, Morpeth Borough Council have no present proposal to build.
