§ 102. Mr. Sydney Irvingasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what progress has been made at Bevans Works, Swanscombe, on the scheme for the installation of electrostatic precipitators; and when he anticipates this work will be completed.
§ Mr. BevinsThe new 350 ft. chimney should be completed in a little over two months. Foundations for the electrical precipitators have now been provided. It is hoped that the first electrical precipitator will be working by August, and that all work will be completed by mid-1960.
§ 103. Mr. Sydney Irvingasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs to what extent electrostatic precipitators have been out of working order in cement works in the Thames-side area during the last six months.
§ Mr. BevinsI am not aware that any of these precipitators has been out of working order during this period or that there has been any stoppage except for routine maintenance.
