HC Deb 16 February 1959 vol 600 c12W
91. Mr. G. Roberts

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he is aware of the hardship caused to slate quarrymen in Caernarvonshire by the operation of the three-day waiting rule governing the payment of unemployment benefit; and if he will examine the position with a view to removing the hardship.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

No. I have discussed with my hon. Friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary the talk which she had with the hon. Member, and I have myself looked into the matter. I do not think that application of the rule laid down in the National Insurance Act, 1946, does cause hardship, and my hon. Friend is writing to the hon. Member.
