HC Deb 16 February 1959 vol 600 c10W
83. Mr. T. W. Jones

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware that in a week's time the Gwynedd River Board will be obliged to cease completely its capital works and declare redundant sixty-six workmen because of the restricted capital investment allocation; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Godber

The Gwynedd River Board's programme of capital investment on drainage improvement works for the 1958 financial year amounted to £63,000. Towards this it has been given over the year allocations amounting to £61,000. In addition the Board has a substantial programme of maintenance work over which there is no Government control. In view of this my right hon. Friend is making inquiries to find out the reasons for the proposed dismissal of workmen of which the Board notified my Ministry last week.
