Friend the Secretary of State for Air has proposed that as Turnhouse now mainly serves civil air transport purposes, my Department should assume responsibility for the aerodrome. This proposal is now being urgently examined, but if it is accepted it would be at least six months before the necessary staff could be provided by my Department.
