Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Health what moneys have been allocated to the Barnsley Hospital Management Committee in each successive year since 1948; and what moneys for each respective year were left unspent.

NOTES:

1. Provision was made in 1949–50 and 1950–51 for the opening of Lundwood Hospital for chronic sick patients but, in fact, the opening did not take place until 1951–52.

2. The closure of Mount Vernon Hospital, Barnsley, for nine months in 1952–53 contributed to the underspending in that year.

3. The underspending in 1953–54 was partly due to closed wards.
