HC Deb 12 February 1959 vol 599 cc248-9W
Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to what extent Barnsley railway services will be improved within the capital programme of railway modernisation; what further development of station facilities is planned; what schemes are in mind for improved diesel services; and what prospects there are of a temporary diesel service from Barnsley to Sheffield until a permanent one can be assured.

Mr. Watkinson

These are questions for the British Transport Commission. While I approve the general lines of the Commission's capital investment programme, it is their responsibility to work out the details and to run services. In view of the hon. Member's Question, I have asked Sir Brian Robertson to let him know when any changes are made affecting this route.
