HC Deb 12 February 1959 vol 599 c240W
98. Mr. Hale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the original cost to the National Exchequer of the construction in Northern Ireland of the houses now vested in the Irish Sailors' and Soldiers' Land Trust; what amount is now outstanding by way of mortgage or loan; and what is the present revenue from rents.

Mr. Erroll

I am not aware how much of the outright grant of £1,300,000 made by the Exchequer in 1924 was applied by the Irish Sailors' and Soldiers' Land Trust to the construction of houses in Northern Ireland. I would refer the hon. Member on the second and third parts of the Questions to the published accounts of the Trust.

99. Mr. Hale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is prepared to receive a deputation representing the tenants and occupiers of the houses now vested in Northern Ireland in the Irish Sailors' and Soldiers' Land Trust.

Mr. Erroll

No.
