§ 89. Mr. Malcolm MacPhersonasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what plans he has for the expansion of secondary education in Bechuanaland.
§ Mr. AlportAs I said in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Rugby (Mr. J. Johnson) on 6th March, 1958, there are two schools in the Bechuanaland Protectorate which offer full secondary education. A Colonial Development and Welfare grant of £10,000 has recently been made to the London Missionary Society to assist them to construct a238W junior secondary school to accommodate 100 to 150 pupils of both sexes. When this school is operating, it may later develop into a full secondary college.
