HC Deb 11 February 1959 vol 599 c216W
113. Sir F. Medlicott

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if, in view of the continually increasing congestion of passenger traffic in Central London, he is now able to come to a decision as to the feasibility of constructing a new tube railway line from Victoria to Walthamstow.

Mr. Watkinson

As I told the hon. Members for Islington, East (Mr. E. Fletcher) and Walthamstow, West (Mr. Redhead) on 4th February, this project raises difficult financial problems, and it has not yet been possible to find room for it in the British Transport Commission's capital programme. I am, however, reviewing it and I am seeking the views of the London Travel Committee.
