107. Mr. C. Howell

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, in view of the need to relieve traffic congestion in Central London, what proposals he is considering for the use of the Kingsway subway; and what consideration he has given to converting this subway to use as a road with direct access to the Embankment from Kingsway.

121. Mrs. L. Jeger

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will now consider proposals for making use of the Kingsway subway for traffic or for parking.

Mr. Watkinson

Two alternative proposals are now under consideration by the London County Council at the instance of the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee, to provide an underpass for traffic between the Embankment and Kingsway.
