HC Deb 11 February 1959 vol 599 c203W
86. Mrs. L. Jeger

asked the Minister of Labour the latest available figures of unemployed registered in Holborn and St. Pancras; how many are on the disabled register; and how many, in each category, have been unemployed for more than eight weeks.

Mr. Iain Macleod

At 12th January, 1959, the total number registered as unemployed at the offices covering these areas was 3,746 of whom 1,527 had been unemployed for more than eight weeks. The former total included 308 registered disabled persons suitable for ordinary employment and in addition there were 22 such persons classified as unlikely to obtain employment except under sheltered conditions. I will write to the hon. Member about the number of registered disabled persons who had been unemployed for more than eight weeks.
