Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Health what moneys have recently been allocated to the Barnsley Hospital Management Committee for the purpose of furthering priority projects; and if he will list the proposed schemes.

Mr. Walker-Smith

In addition to the major scheme at St. Helen Hospital, the following projects are in progress or have been approved to be undertaken in 1958–61 at Barnsley Hospitals:

Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Health if he will list the districts and the total population that form the catchment area of the hospitals under the Barnsley Hospital Management Committee.

Mr. Walker-Smith

The catchment area is regarded as including Barnsley County Borough, the Urban Districts of Cudworth, Darfield, Darton, Dodworth, Hoyland Nether, Royston, Wombwell and Worsborough and part of the Rural District of Penistone, with a total estimated population of 170,000.
