HC Deb 10 February 1959 vol 599 c171W
Mr. Iorwerth Thomas

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the number of applications made by firms in the Rhondda valleys for extensions to their existing factories; what is the estimated additional number of persons that would be employed if the applications were allowed; how many applications were refused; and for what reasons.

Sir D. Eccles

Three applications for extensions to factories in the Rhondda Valleys have been received and all have been authorised. On completion later this year they should provide about 120 new jobs. In addition, nine extensions have been authorised on the Treforest Trading Estate and these should also afford some help to Rhondda.
