HC Deb 10 February 1959 vol 599 cc169-70W
57. Mr. N. McLean

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Indonesia is one of the few countries for which the Export Credits Guarantee Department cover is not available, that this is hampering United Kingdom export trade to that country, and that as a result important orders are continually lost; and whether he will review this policy of the Export Credits Guarantee Department towards Indonesia with a view to bringing it into line with that of similar institutions in other countries which give credit cover to Indonesia.

Mr. J. Rodgers

We are keeping the matter under review and I can assure my hon. Friend that cover for Indonesia will be resumed as soon as circumstances permit. I understand that those credit insurance institutions in other countries which do offer cover only do so to a very limited extent.
